My services are customized to meet the specific needs of each client. Based on over 16 years as one of Her Majesty's Inspectors and nearly 20 years as an Ofsted inspector, I can advise and support schools in their improvement journey to give pupils the best life chances.
INITIAL TEACHER EDUCATION /TRAINING (ITE/ITT)
Adrian Lyons was the HMI lead for Ofsted's ITE curriculum survey. He has either led or participated in the inspection of many ITE providers, including leading the inspection of large national providers such as Teach First and small local partnerships such as Southend SCITT. This includes inspection under the latest framework. He is available to give ITE partnerships a health check or to work as an external examiner/ moderator.
BUSINESS, ECONOMICS AND ENTERPRISE (INCLUDING FINANCIAL CAPABILITY)
Adrian has been passionate about economic understanding for everyone for 35 years and it remains a personal mission for him. For six years, he led Ofsted's work regarding economics, business and enterprise (including financial capability) in primary and secondary schools throughout England. Promoting Ofsted's inspection evidence to the economics, business and enterprise community and stakeholders such as Parliamentary committees, the Bank of England, the Money Advice Service and government departments, and representing the subjects within Ofsted. He led the research and wrote the report 'Getting Ready for Work' (2016) reviewing the strengths and weaknesses in secondary school approaches to preparing young people for work. He was the assistant lead on Ofsted's previous Career Survey.
MEDIA AND PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS
Adrian has been a key note speaker at many external events across England and in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany and Greece. His presentations are always well received with excellent feedback.
Adrian produces and presents a monthly radio show called 'Melody In My Heart'.
